Formulating evidence-supported conclusions — ACT practice questions
Formulating evidence-supported conclusions on the ACT Science test means deciding what a passage's experiments and data actually show. A student must choose the conclusion backed by the tables, figures, or procedures rather than by outside knowledge. Items often present a claim or two competing interpretations and ask which statement the evidence supports, or which result would confirm or weaken a given conclusion. Common traps are answers that go beyond what was measured, mix up variables, or apply a trend from one figure to a different condition. Answer choices are usually complete sentences that sound scientific until they are checked against the data.
