Fractions, decimals, and percents on the SSAT Upper Quantitative (Math) section covers converting among those forms and using them in short word problems. A student has to find a percent of a quantity, such as a dollar discount, recover a whole when given a fraction of it, and add or subtract fractions to find a remaining distance or amount. Questions usually appear as brief story problems with five answer choices that mix the correct result with nearby traps: treating a discount as the sale price, reversing a fraction-of-a-number setup, or adding when the leftover part is needed. Choices are typically whole numbers or simple fractions.
