What this topic is

Two blanks make a Sentence Completion — two-word question harder than it looks, because both words must fit the sentence and fit each other.

Every answer choice offers a pair, and a pair is wrong if either half fails. The relationship between the blanks is the key: a word such as but, although or not signals that the two words should contrast, while a semicolon followed by a restatement signals that they agree.

In a sentence saying a critic was ___ about a film's flaws but ___ about its strengths, the pair harsh and generous fits, while harsh and severe does not.
